Manjari Sharma

 

 

Manjari Sharma (1979, born and raised in Mumbai, India) makes work that is rooted in portraiture addressing the issues of identity, multiculturalism, and personal mythology. Manjari's work has been awarded, published, and exhibited internationally. Manjari's series 'Darshan' is a photographic re-imagining of Hindu deities and has garnered her wide critical acclaim. She was awarded 1st place for The CENTER's Curator's Choice award by Malcolm Daniel, M.F.A. Houston and her works have been recognized in print and online by The New York Times, Vice Magazine, Monocle, Geo, The New Yorker, Wired, CNN, LA Times, The Huffington Post and NPR to name a few. Manjari has guest lectured at The School of M.F.A, Boston, The Rubin Museum of Art, AsiaSociety, and The School of Visual Arts and her work can be found in the permanent collection of The MET, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and Carlos Museum amongst various private collections. Manjari is currently based in Southern California with her husband, two daughters, and a puppy.
